Artist's Philosophy

I am intrigued by other cultures and delight in finding images that speak to me personally.

I am instinctively drawn to images that are warm and intense in color.

In nature, I also seek lines, shapes, patterns and textures.

My approach to picture-taking has evolved from the traditional art to what is known as contemplative photography.

Jennifer Martin

Two of my favorite books are:

The Little Book of Contemplative Photography: Seeing with wonder, respect and humility by Howard Zehr and

Photography And the Art of Seeing: A Visual Perception Workshop for Film and Digital Photography by Freeman Patterson.

Contemplative photography allows me to "practice mindfulness." My hope is that my art will be imbued with the same ever-present sense of wonder and joy I feel as I approach my photography with awe and respect.
